Pomat Hamlet is a peaceful rural community located in Wailiti Village, Sikka Regency, away from the bustle of the city. The farmers who reside in this hamlet will greet us with humility and serenity. The lives of the people living in this modest hamlet have undergone tremendous transformation since renewable technology, specifically solar power (LTS), was introduced nine years ago. LTS offers a number of advantages, including as security, education, and economics, in addition to lighting up the house at night.

Goodbye kerosene

The presence of LTS in Pomat Hamlet tells an interesting story about a farmer named Nandi. Since using the home-based LTS system, Nandi’s family no longer has to struggle to find kerosene, which they had been using for lighting and other daily needs. Even charging their mobile phones, which used to have to go all the way to the city, can now be done at home. Their children can now study at night with adequate lighting. This opens up opportunities for their children to achieve their dreams through better education.

Their homes aren’t completely dark at night anymore. Activities that were previously limited to the day can now be carried out into the night. To meet their daily needs, Nandi can grind corn and shell peanuts, some of which are sold and some of which are utilized as seeds. Nandi’s wife, Mama Pina, and other moms, like Mama Rice and Mama Erosvita, may now spend their evenings tying sarong motifs, spinning yarn, and weaving.

Well-maintained LTS system

Thanks to consistent care and maintenance, as well as the adoption of high-quality LTS components, this house LTS system continues to operate effectively nine years after it was first installed. In order to ensure that every home stays light and that the family’s usual activities go smoothly, Om Botu and the Wadah Foundation staff frequently visit the people of Pomat Hamlet to educate them on how to maintain and care for the LTS device.

The home LTS has created a safer and more productive environment for the entire community in Pomat village. From children who study hard to parents who work hard to fulfil their families’ needs. The LTS is a silent witness to their passion and perseverance. The night now lit by the LTS brings hope and illuminates a brighter future for the next generation in Pomat hamlet.
