Cornerstone Laying of a Solar Training Workshop in Nagekeo

Saturday, 5 September 2020, the Regent of Nagekeo, Johanes Don Bosco Do led the cornerstone laying of the solar training workshop in Pogomoro Village, Nangaroro District, Nagekeo Regency, Nusa Tenggara Timur Province (NTT).

THE SECOND SOLAR TRAINING WORKSHOP IN NAGEKEO

This would serve as the second solar training workshop which the Regent of Nagekeo has overseen. The first one was done on 1st of July 2020 in Makipaket Village, Mbay II Sub-District, Aesesa District, Nagekeo Regency.

Pagomogo is one of the 5 (five) villages in the regent of Nagekeo that would receive solar electricity. Nagekeo would receive 60 units of solar lights which would be installed in the homes of the people. The solar panels & lights would be crafted and installed by the 7 Solar Mamas from Nagekeo who finished their 5-month training in Tilonia, India from September 2019 to February 2020.

COOPERATION WITH WADAH, THE INDIAN GOVERNMENT AND BAREFOOT COLLEGE INTERNATIONAL

The Solar Electrification Program is an ongoing cooperation among Wadah Foundation, the Indian government through the Embassy of India in Jakarta and Barefoot College International (BCI) – India. This training workshop would serve as a place to assemble the solar panels/lights, as well as a solar training center for other people in the community of Pagomogo Village. This is where the 7 Solar Mamas would be able to share the knowledge and skills they acquired in India. 

Bringing light to the people of Nagekeo through the collaboration with the Nagekeo regional government and its people is an effort made by the Wadah Foundation so that hope for a more prosperous future will emerge for empowered and dignified individuals.
