The children present during the event received healthy nourishment at the end of the ceremony. The Gerobak Pintar program, an adaptation from the Kariton Push Cart Program developed by the Dynamic Teen Company (DTC) in the Phillipines, has been initiated by Ibu Anie Hashim Djojohadikusumo, Wadah’s Patron, as a medium to help improve knowledge of the children who do not go to school due to financial limitations but have a strong desire to do so. Out-of-school children and even those who have no interest to go to school are also welcome to join the program. It is expected that this Gerobak Pintar project could help develop awareness in the underprivileged communities that education is a very important aspect for the future of their children. The Gerobak Pintar program consists of 4 categories that include: Education, Health, Extra Food Supplement and Life Skills for parents. The program will be fully operated by Wadah’s activists for three months after which it shall be handed over to the communities in the area with supervision from Wadah. (Etty)
