Eight illiterate women from remote villages in Sikka and Timor Tengah Selatan, Nusa Tenggara Timur, flew to Barefoot College in India on Saturday  Sept 14, 2013 to learn how to assemble, install and maintain  solar panel. This training,  which will last for six months, from September 2013 to March 2014,  is sponsored by the Indian Technical & Economic Cooperation (ITEC), Yayasan Wadah Titian Harapan or Wadah and Barefoot College. Florencio Mario Viera, coordinator of Wadah for Eastern Indonesia,  said  that the women would follow the training through color guides. It is expected that when they return to Indonesia, they will be equipped with the skills needed to  assemble, install and maintain the solar panel. (ANS)
